Community Design Workshops

On January 16, the Edgemoor Team concluded the last of nine Community Design Workshops for the KCI New Terminal project. These workshops were part of a months-long effort to engage residents in all of Kansas City, Missouri’s six council districts and Johnson County, Kansas, as well as with business leaders in two special sessions with local chambers of commerce.

These interactive workshops combined live polling and table discussions to capture input on participants' travel habits, thoughts on the existing airport, and ideas and aspirations for the New Terminal.

Here is some of what you shared with us, Kansas City...

It has been great to collaborate with the Aviation Department, city leaders, and the airlines to build on the great work that was done through the Exhibit K process. We are excited to share our early concept and vision for the new KCI single terminal – one that preserves modern convenience, reflects the heritage and values of Kansas City, and addresses the forward-thinking needs of a world-class city.

This is just the beginning of the design process. We look forward to working with the Aviation Department, the City, airline partners, other stakeholders, and the community to design and build an airport that positions Kansas City for the future.
